Léttlopi is a 100% wool, worsted / aran weight yarn that is half the weight of Álafosslopi. It produces garments that are comfortable to wear indoors or outdoors and comes in a wide range of colors...perfect for Fair Isle, stranded colorwork and Icelandic-style sweaters.

Ístex was established to carry on the Icelandic wool industry that started in Mosfellsbær in 1896. Ístex buys directly from farmers and processes about 99% of all Icelandic wool. Icelandic farmers own 80% of the company.
The company's commitment with Lopi is to offer high quality products from Icelandic wool to customers that choose natural, sustainable and eco-friendly living. Our wool is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified.
Projects knitted from Léttlopi are cosy and lightweight. We particularly love it for warm, outer-layer sweaters and mittens, though we note that some do not find this yarn comfortable for garments that will be worn directly next to the skin.
