Casapinka — one of our favorite designers — created this vibrant Rainbow Warrior Cowl in response to the Pulse Nightclub shooting in 2016, to show support for our friends in the LGBTQ community. Her stated intention was for it to be "a quiet reminder that hate doesn’t have to win, and that tolerance is grace."
For those who are new to Stars Hollow Yarns, this concept is one of the founding principles of our shop. (click here to learn more)
In our kit, we pair a bright, variegated yarn with a neutral main color, just like the original, then we take it up a notch by adding a hand-dyed silk/mohair liner for extra luxury and coziness (similar to the Sisters United Assookinakii Cowl Kit we've offered in the past). Instructions offer a choice to knit your project either in-the-round or flat.
Casapinka's Rainbow Warrior design has a straightforward and meditative rhythm, yet it's challenging enough to keep things interesting...exactly what we're looking for these days. We hope when you knit and share your project with others, it will serve as a source of hope for those who need it most.
Our kit includes: Three skeins of yarn, knitting pattern instructions (printed copy and pdf).

I want to reiterate the spirit of the shawl, honoring the LGBTQ people who lost their lives in the Pulse Nightclub shooting. I received many emails from people who were affected by that tragedy and was touched how they were knitting Rainbow Warrior into prayer or comfort shawls. Now more than ever, no matter how we are different, we can’t forge ahead in hate.
