"Prep week" starts Saturday, February 1!

Our first Cocoknits Method KAL (knit-along) is here! Together, we will knit the Emma sweater (Version A or B). Sign up here to receive emails directly from Cocoknits to your inbox, weekly and bi-weekly throughout the duration of the KAL. You'll learn how to chart your pattern to make customization easy for future projects, English Tailoring, as well as how to achieve a flattering set-in sleeve using Julie’s original top-down, seamless construction technique. Stop in and work with others at the table on Wednesdays and Saturdays in February/March, as outlined at the bottom of this listing.

The first session (week) will focus primarily on prep work...choosing your yarn/needles and start working on your gauge swatch, then decide which (if any) modifications you might need.

  • Skill Level: All levels welcome - you just need to have basic knitting skills (know how to knit, purl, increase, decrease, pick up stitches).
  • *Supplies needed:
    • Emma pattern by Julie Weisenberger (available in Cocoknits Sweater Workshop book).
    • Needles:
      US11 / 8mm (or size needed to obtain gauge) one circular needle, 40" / 100cm or longer, plus 24" to 36" / 60 to 90cm
      US7 / 4.5mm needles for working BO
US0-3 / 2-3.25mm DPN or any length circular needle (for picking up stitches)
    • Yarn: 700 - 1400 yards bulky weight yarn for long sleeves (our sample is knit in Kate Davies Àrd Thìr, held together with Shibui Silk Cloud)
    • 6 stitch markers in different colors
    • 2 spare circ. needles stitch holders, or scrap yarn to hold Sleeve sts
    • Row counter (optional)
    • Cocoknits Sweater Worksheet
  • Facilitators: Laura Eckel / Lisa Clark / Patrice Mansfield (rotating)
  • Cost: $10 per drop-in session, 5 free sessions with purchase of $100 or more. *Supplies not included in cost of KAL (see details below).
We are hosting this project as a Knit-a-long (KAL). What this means is that you will begin to see this sweater take shape over the course of a few sessions in February and March. Sign up and attend any of our (facilitated) sessions with a group, or just stop in on a day when you'd like some encouragement or assistance. Post your projects on social media with the tag #StarsHollowKAL and #CocoknitsMethod and share the fun!
  • Saturdays, 2pm to 4pm:
    • February 1, 15, 29; March 7, and 21
  • Wednesdays, 3pm to 5pm:
    • February 5, 19; March 11, and 25
  • Note: Feb 29 (Saturday) session includes a 15-minute video Q&A with Julie Weisenberger, creator of Cocoknits
  • We will schedule additional sessions as needed.
*We appreciate you purchasing your supplies at Stars Hollow Yarns and offer a 10% discount on all yarns used for classes & KALs. To celebrate Cocoknits' first-ever KAL, with every purchase of a Cocoknits Sweater Workshop or Project Portfolio, we will give you 1 set of free Stitch Markers (Flight of Stitch Markers excluded).
